Reflection #4
Computers in the
classroom are almost the norm. They are in every library and are being utilized
more and more to clarify subjects and reach masses through communication. A lot
of us have phone that are capable of doing exactly what computers are doing.
What I am buying into with technology is the accessibility to information. For
example, when I was in high school we you video cameras to record matches and
view the tapes later on a television set through a VCR. Today, we can do
everything from our phones, from recording, viewing, editing, storing, and
sending to others that we deem important. Athletes are able to do what scouts
have been doing for years and they can put their own twist to on it also.
Athletes can research and view different techniques that at one time had been
unavailable to them. Not only that, they can develop their own styles and fill
in the gaps where their coaches possibly skipped over, different philosophies
can be explored, and watching high caliber matches are not limited to the
individuals that can afford to go and watch.
In the classroom
specific curriculum can be gone over without the teacher leave his or her desk.
Corrections can be done through email, chat, or some other form of media
through the computer without distracting others and or embarrassing the student
who needs correction. Students can be given different avenues of learning, such
as having the teacher provide a website that will allow a student to learn a
subject on their own or have the material translated into their native
language. I happen to go to many different website that are from different
countries that do not speak 1English or use the same alphabet, so I am able to
have their website translated in order to read and understand their material.
At the same time anyone can communicate through media that allows for
translations.
